METHODS: GAME DEVELOPMENT, 2D ASSET DESIGN
TOOLS: UNITY, VISUAL C#, ILLUSTRATOR
Mango Man is a 2D platformer game for ages 5+. The game aims to enhance spatial reasoning skills for early childhood development. Inspiration for this project came from early 80s platformer games which introduced jump and climbing mechanics as a system of reaching desired destinations. The goal was to iterate onto these mechanics and create a product that utilized game physics to teach unconventional approaches to spatial problem-solving.

The development goal of this project was to use game physics as a means of teaching unconventional approaches to problem-solving in a 2D spatial environment. Below is the flow diagram breakdown that served as a guide for the game’s level design. Listed is the objective and player skills learned in each level along with its level analysis. All 2D art assets were made in Adobe Illustrator, interactions programmed in Visual C#, and levels built in the Unity game engine software.
